Long-Range Training

We offer a 1-Day Long-Range Course and Private Training during the week

Long-range shooting is a lot of fun, but not everyone has had the opportunity to receive professional training or shoot beyond 1,000 yards. North East Texas Tactical hosts precision rifle classes twice each month to bring students up to the modern standard of long-range shooting.

A lot has changed over the past 20 years, and this course will get you up to speed quickly. It is, by far, the best value in the Metroplex. You will not find another course that can get you shooting this far, this quickly, at such an affordable price.

We guarantee that you will get hits at 1,000 yards. If your rifle, ammunition, and optic are capable, we will help you reach 1,200 yards, 1,500 yards, and even one mile.

This course is designed to benefit shooters of every experience level. Whether you are brand-new and have never shot beyond 100 yards or you routinely shoot at long range, the instruction will build upon your existing knowledge and help you advance from there.

Most of our students have never shot beyond 200 yards, yet they routinely achieve first-round hits at 1,000 yards. Beginners will develop a strong foundation in the essential fundamentals, while experienced shooters will gain a deeper understanding of more advanced concepts and techniques.

The course covers everything you need to know to engage targets at extended distances, with added emphasis on reading wind and mirage—the number-one cause of misses in long-range shooting. We also provide detailed instruction on setting up, using, and truing your ballistic solver to improve your hit probability at extended ranges.

We begin in the classroom with instruction covering:

  • Rifles, optics, ammunition, and supporting equipment
  • Long-range shooting fundamentals
  • Wind and mirage reading
  • External ballistics
  • Ballistic solver setup and use
  • Truing ballistic data at extended ranges

On the range, we will:

  • Confirm your rifle’s zero
  • Verify muzzle velocity using a chronograph
  • Calculate your ballistic solutions
  • Complete the range qualifier
  • Progressively engage targets at increasing distances
  • Push out to one mile—or as far as your equipment will allow

After completing the structured portion of the course, shooters may spend the remaining time practicing their skills and ringing steel at distance.

By the end of the course, you will have the knowledge and practical skills needed to confidently apply what you have learned anywhere you go to shoot.

Rental rifles and ammunition are available, so do not let a lack of equipment keep you from attending.

This is not a three- to five-day precision rifle course filled with unnecessary blocks of instruction. Every portion of this class is focused on the knowledge and skills that matter for long-range shooting. Our goal is to qualify you to safely use the range, give you the tools needed to practice effectively, and establish a solid foundation you can continue building upon.

Private Training

We also offer private, one-on-one training during the week, as well as private instruction for groups. Contact us to discuss your needs and schedule a training session.

If your equipment is capable, we will have you shooting out to one mile in no time.

Intro to Precision Rifle 8-Hour Course: $450
Includes 8 hours of training, emphasis on wind reading, atmospherics using the ballistic solver, qualifying for the long-range, and the daily range fee.
Time: 7 am - 3 pm
Date: Check the calendar for dates
Round count: 40 rounds MATCH ammo, extra if you are not zeroed.

Required Equipment

  •  Rifle capable of 1" groups (or better) at 100 yds. (.30 caliber max)
  • Adjustable scope with marked (tactical style) uncovered turrets or Christmas tree-style hold-over reticles such as the Horus H59, Tremor3, Vortex EBR-7c, Mil-XT or similar, 30mm main tube or Larger. Second Focal Plane scopes, or BDC reticles, or Custom turrets are not recommended.
  • Bipod or front bag/rest
  • Rear squeeze bag or sand sock (we sell the right kind of squeeze bag $25)
  • Phone capable of running Android or iPhone Apps. (Applied Ballistics Quantum is the preferred app) The cheap or free apps give cheap results. It pays for itself on day 1.
  • Eye Pro / Ear Pro
  • 40-60 rounds of quality MATCH ammunition. 40 rounds is the bare minimum if you are already zeroed. If you are not zeroed I would recommend bringing more. Spotting and additional coaching will be available to you.
